2006 PRI Summer Academy Final Report
by Michelle Sowemimo

During the PRI summer academy, great care was taken to ensure that there were both quantitative and qualitative measures of the students' progress and general well being. One of the staff served to measure and assisted in maintaining a healthy psychological and educational environment. This role was extremely important as it ensured that the program was benefiting the students' emotionally and psychological needs, as well as providing their educational gains.

Using computer-based tools, surveys and interviews were conducted with both teachers and students asking them to evaluate their experience both during and after the program. The benefit of having a report like this, allowed PRI to ensure that the environment did not become too stressful for either the teachers or the students. In addition, we were able to evaluate the success and weaknesses of the program while it was in session and adjust the academy accordingly.
